A heavy winter storm brought the first snow of the season to Montana this October. Safety alerts and notices remained in effect while the system impacted the region. The ice led to crashes and delayed travelers. Skiers discovered fresh deep snow after the storm and posted videos of the conditions online. One dog showed strangely to the white flakes. Clear skies came to the area as the mercury rose slowly. The event marks the beginning of cold season for the state.
