An autistic student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington succumbed to his death subsequent to being separated from a support worker he had a romantic interest in. The inquest heard that the college was unable to furnish proper backing, which was a factor in the teenager's death. The student was found dead in a lavatory, with investigations revealing systemic issues in handling autistic students' needs.
