Bears Icon Mike Ditka Dies Aged 86

Mike Ditka died on 9 October 2026 at age 86. ESPN, NBC News, and The Guardian all confirmed his death. He was a Hall of Fame tight end and head coach of the Chicago Bears.

Ditka suited up for Chicago as a player, then came back to coach the Bears to a Super Bowl 20 win. He went into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and remains one of the most recognised names in NFL history.
